Extreme Dirt Track Racing is a specialized form of racing sometimes refered to as TT racing.  TT Stands for Tourist Trophy. Tourist Trophy Races, best known and most demanding of the European motorcycle races. TT Races where first run in 1907 on the Isle of Man off the northwestern coast of England, the race attracted many riders from all over England and the European continent. The race was originally intended for motorcycles "similiar to those sold to the public" called touring machines, and soon became known as the Tourist Trophy. In 1911, the course was changed on a route that went into the mountains and back with many right and left turns along the way. In 1976 the event finally stopped being a world class event, but the name and form of racing was established. The term TT (Tourist Trophy) is now used for dirt track racing which has right or left turns and steple-chase style jumps.  TT has evolved into what is now known as Extreme Dirt Track Racing.  Extreme Dirt Track racing featured right and left turns, table top jumps, high speed straightaways and normally takes place on a closed course race track.
